Bogotá is Latin America·s No. 1 in Creative Cities Network for Music, along with Seville (Spain), Bologna (Italy), Glasgow (Scotland) and Ghent (Belgium). The offer of free open-air festivals for rock, salsa, jazz, opera, hip-hop and Colombian music is enormous. Rock al Parque, is the largest festival of its kind in Latin America, and the third largest in the world.
Every two years, we hold Latin America·s most important theatre festival, one of the best in the world.
There are regular offers of theatre, dance and music in more than 45 venues, the best-known of which are Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santodomingo, Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán and Teatro Nacional and a number of smaller private venues.
In October each year we have the ArtBo, one of the most important art fairs in Latin America, attended by some 24,000 people, and bringing together the best of the galleries from Colombia and abroad.
Bogotá´s International Book Fair (FILBO), is the most important event in the promotion of reading in the publishing industry in Latin America. The leading actors here are writers, books, and readers.
Bogota has 77 museums, with collections of pre-Columbian and contemporary art, and works of historical and archaeological and religious value.
